Cup final · Saturday 23 August 2026

Copa de Invierno: one night, one trophy.

Our knockout cup ends the only way it should — under floodlights at the Estadio Domingo Burgueño, the department's biggest stage. Sides from across both divisions fight through the winter to reach it. This is the loudest night on the calendar.

The cup

How a side reaches the final.

The Copa de Invierno runs alongside the league all winter. The top of the Open League table earns byes; the Youth League sends its champions into a showcase slot. From there it's straight knockout — one bad night and you're out.

Big rivalries tend to collide on the way, like the Derbi Fernandino in July. For the human side of cup season — the nerves, the superstitions, the barrio pride — our culture desk tells those stories.
